The MOWA Sprint Car event scheduled for this Saturday May 4th at Spoon River Speedway has been moved to Saturday June 1st. A dismal forecast of rain, showers and cold temps for the weekend led the promoters and MOWA to determine that the odds of having a successful event at one of our favorite tracks were far better by moving the show to June 1st. It’s tough to cancel an event based on a forecast when it’s presently 80 degrees outside, but with Spoon River being somewhat isolated from a large population base and most fans required to drive an hour or more to attend this event, the chances of having a successful show under the circumstances were not great. The forecast might not be perfect, but it is accurate enough to indicate less than ideal conditions for this Saturday.
If the weather permits, the track’s weekly racing program will continue as planned. The next MOWA event will be the Mary Lee Standridge Memorial on May 17th at Jacksonville Speedway.
On behalf of the Spoon River promotion team and MOWA, we thank you for your understanding and hope to see you at Spoon River on June 1st.
