(Bill W) September 21, 2011 – A great weekend is in store for sprint car fans in the Midwest!  Two shows featuring $4,000 to win main events are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, and it looks like the weatherman will be cooperating!

A stout field of cars is expected both Friday for Jacksonville Speedway’s “Shaheen’s Blast from the Past”, and for Saturday’s Monster Energy™ Sprint Car Series event at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.  Drivers such as Jerrod Hull, Jimmy Hurley, Robbie Standridge, Terry McCarl, Austin McCarl, Danny Smith, Josh Schneiderman, Dustin Selvage and many more have expressed their intentions in competing in one or both of this weekend’s shows.

Last Friday, JC Bland was the winner of the $2,500 Herb Barlow Memorial at Jacksonville, while Hull took the Tom Knowles Memorial on Saturday night at the Spoon River Speedway near Canton, Illinois.  This Friday’s “Shaheen’s Blast from the Past” at Jacksonville is expected to draw a healthy number of competitors including Smith and Terry McCarl, who will give a formidable challenge to the “regulars” at Jacksonville.  Both have already won in MOWA competition at the banked ¼-mile oval this season.

The 34 Raceway in West Burlington will host the Monster Energy™ series for the second time this season.  They also hosted the opener, which drew 39 cars and saw Danny Lasoski cop the feature event.  A large car count is expected for Saturday, including a handful of the Knoxville regulars to challenge the series’ regulars.

Hull leads Hurley and Robbie Standridge in the Monster Energy™ Sprint Car Series point race entering Saturday night.  Jim Moughan Jr. is fourth, followed by Korey Weyant.  Chris Urish, AJ Bruns, Jeremy Standridge, Joey Moughan and Bret Tripplett round out the top ten.

At Jacksonville on Friday, grandstands open at 5 p.m., with hot laps scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and racing to follow.  Tickets are $20 for adults.  For more information, visitwww.JacksonvilleSpeedway.com

At 34 Raceway on Saturday, the grandstands open at 5 p.m., with hot laps scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with racing to follow. Tickets are $18 for adults, and students/seniors $16.  10 and under are FREE!  For more information, visit www.34Raceway.com
