The Midwest Open Wheel Association is in the process of being formed by a group of sprint car drivers and owners centered around Springfield, Illinois with a home track at Jacksonville Speedway.

For the 2011 season the series will consist of roughly 10-12 events held primarily at tracks within a two hour drive of Springfield Illinois.  Our plan is to have 5 sanctioned events at Jacksonville Speedway and 5-7  at other tracks in the area.  Most of our drivers will race the majority of Jacksonville’s unsanctioned schedule as well.  Our rules will be consistent with those at our home track with ‘run what ‘ya brung’ unlimited winged sprint cars.

In only two weeks the series has evolved from an idea into a plan.  There have been a number of accomplishments in that short period of time that will be announced shortly.  We currently have over 20 drivers committed to the series with several more agreeing to race with us as their schedules permit.  We have secured several outstanding sponsorships, a commitment for  title sponsorships, and several more significant partnerships are in the final stages of discussion.  We have formulated a workable plan to offer a generous point fund and series loyalty bonuses.  Most importantly, we have developed a very unique marketing approach and secured a majority of the funds necessary to make it successful.

The reception we have received from area tracks after hearing our unique proposal has been outstanding.  Our focus will be making our events a ‘home run’ for the tracks and the biggest bargain in entertainment for our fans.  As the next few weeks progress we will be finalizing the dates of our schedule, working through series rules and procedures, working on our plan for securing necessary funds to be successful, and implementing the details of a show that will entertain our fans from beginning to end.  Stay Tuned!
